Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute, through its Advanced Microsystems Solutions (AMS) organization, seeks a Software Engineer to develop RF and spectrum operations software and signal processing algorithms in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

You will contribute from concept through deployment, interfacing with RF front ends, embedded hardware, and cloud-native platforms while advancing mission capabilities in contested electromagnetic environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant experience developing software for complex technical systems.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: C++, Python, Java, Rust.
• Experience developing software in Linux environments.
• Understanding of RF communications systems, Digital signal processing, Wireless networking, Electromagnetic spectrum concepts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications supporting advanced RF, communications, and spectrum operations systems.
• Develop scalable software architectures for real-time signal processing and mission applications.
• Design and implement APIs, services, and data-processing pipelines that support sensor integration and spectrum exploitation workflows.
• Develop software utilizing modern software engineering practices, DevSecOps methodologies, and Agile development frameworks.
• Develop and optimize digital signal processing algorithms for: Signal detection and classification, Modulation and demodulation, Direction finding and geolocation, Spectrum monitoring and analysis, Waveform processing, Interference mitigation.
