Job summary

Vitesse Systems, LLC seeks a Principal RF Payload Systems Engineer in Longmont, CO, to lead payload architecture and performance analyses for GEO/LEO missions. You will drive system-level trade studies and supplier assessments across cross-functional teams, from concept to operations.

Requirements include a strong RF payload background, 10+ years in satellite systems, and experience with link budgets and performance modeling using MATLAB or STK.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics or related field.
• Minimum 10 years in satellite communications, RF systems engineering, payload engineering, or spacecraft systems engineering.
• Experience with GEO, MEO, and/or LEO payloads.
• Strong understanding of satellite subsystems and spacecraft system engineering principles.
• Experience performing payload and system-level trade studies.
• Experience supporting payload development through design, integration, test and operation.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and evaluation of advanced communications payload architectures for GEO/MEO/LEO missions.
• Perform system-level trade studies: capacity, coverage, spectral efficiency, mass, power, thermal resources, mission performance.
• Develop payload block diagrams, interface definitions, and subsystem architectures.
• Analyze requirements and translate them into technical specifications and verification plans.
• Support requirements and interface control documents and compliance matrices.
• Contribute to CONOPS and mission performance assessments.
• Support payload integration, verification, testing, and operations.
