Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking a Software Research Engineer to join a customer-site team in Maryland. The role blends hands-on software development with applied research, prototyping, and integration into complex environments.

The position requires full-time on-site work near College Park, MD, and involves RFML research, DSP, SDR, and data-workflow development, with opportunities to lead and publish results.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience with a BS or 1+ year with an MS; or 0 years with a PhD
• Strong hands-on Python and one of C/C++, Java, or Go
• Experience or strong interest in RFML, DSP, SDR, or RF software engineering
• Experience with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras) and applying them in workflows
• Ability to write and maintain technical documentation and communicate results
• US Citizenship with an active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph is required

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modify software systems
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and environments
• Conduct RFML research and develop signal processing algorithms
• Support SDR-based experimentation and prototyping
• Design or implement database interfaces and develop data queries
• Contribute to data workflows supporting experimentation and analysis
• Communicate technical results via presentations and documentation
• Produce design documents and simulation reports
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate research goals into prototypes
• Serve as a research team lead when appropriate
