Job summary

AnySignal is hiring a Principal RF Hardware Engineer to own the design of RF hardware at the core of our space radios. This is a senior IC role focused on end-to-end ownership from architecture to flight qualification.

You will drive architecture, cascade budgets, schematic, layout direction, bring-up, and characterization, setting the technical standards for RF hardware and documentation. The radios must survive launch and perform on orbit.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing RF and microwave hardware with flight heritage.
• End-to-end ownership: architecture, budgets, schematic, layout, bring-up, bench characterization.
• Expert-level ECAD (Altium) and RF/EM simulation tools (ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS, CST).
• Strong RF fundamentals and ability to derive answers from first principles.
• Hands-on bench skills including soldering, rework, and debug of RF hardware.
• Experience selecting space-grade parts, derating, and radiation tolerance.

Responsibilities

• Own RF hardware designs end to end: architecture, cascade budgets, schematic capture, layout direction, bring-up, characterization, and flight support.
• Design and analyze receive and transmit chains — LNAs, mixers, filters, amplifiers, PLLs, data converters, and high-speed interfaces to digital section.
• Drive PCB stackup, controlled-impedance routing, RF layout, grounding and shielding, and thermal considerations at board level.
• Run bring-up and characterization on the bench: VNA, spectrum/signal analyzers, signal generators, noise figure meters, high-speed scopes, TDR.
• Lead failure analysis and anomaly resolution and support environmental qualification when hardware misbehaves.
• Set technical standards for RF hardware: verification expectations, design reviews, and documentation.
• Mentor teammates and influence through design reviews and technical interviewing.
