Job summary

Safran Federal Systems in the Rochester area seeks a senior electrical engineer with a focus on RF design to design, develop, test, and validate PCB hardware and RF subsystems. You will lead cross-functional efforts, translate system requirements to hardware specifications, and drive robust, manufacturable designs.

The role covers schematic capture, PCB layout, RF matching networks, and transmission line analysis, with an emphasis on reliability and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related field
• 4+ years in RF and electrical hardware design
• Experience with RF systems and measurements
• Proficiency with Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro or OrCAD
• Knowledge of MIL-STD, EMI/EMC, FCC compliance
• Active US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level preferred
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, build and test PCB prototypes and hardware systems
• Perform detailed circuit design, simulation, and analysis (analog/digital/mixed-signal)
• Guide integration and optimization of RF/photonic subsystems
• Support RF system analysis: impedance matching, noise figure, signal integrity
• Design and validate RF circuits including match networks, filters, and amplifiers
• Collaborate on schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection
• Develop and maintain design documentation and test plans
• Ensure compliance with MIL-STD, EMI/EMC and safety standards
