Job summary

Blue Origin in Los Angeles is seeking a senior RF engineer to own end-to-end RF/optical communication system development for space applications. You will guide architecture, testing, and mission support across the subsystem lifecycle, including telemetry and data flows for reusable spacecraft.

The role emphasizes leadership of technical teams, strong communication, and a foundation in satellite communications. Relocation is provided, and travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in avionics and communication systems development and verification.
• Knowledge of radios, antennas, RF components, and waveforms.
• Experience performing electromagnetic (EM) simulations to optimize antenna performance.
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
• Ability to lead technical teams in fast-paced environments.
• U.S. citizen or eligible for U.S. employment.

Responsibilities

• Technical lead for RF communications systems—mentor junior engineers and author system documentation.
• Architect and deploy mission-critical RF systems from concept through checkout for real-time telemetry and data flows.
• Own end-to-end system performance: link budget, phase noise, coverage analyses, verification across flight phases.
• Design and execute RF test campaigns spanning bench to field environments.
• Drive procurement strategy and ensure hardware meets mission requirements.
• Define and maintain system architecture and interfaces across subsystems.
• Support hardware integration labs and launch operations.
