Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Principal RF/DSP Engineer to own the most challenging RF targets end-to-end, from hypothesis generation to production-grade implementation in C++.

You will lead laboratory and field validation efforts, driving direction-finding improvements and developing reusable DSP components for the Counter-UAS program. You will analyze complex-IQ data, design experiments, and collaborate with RF, FPGA, and software teams to deliver robust, field-ready solutions

Qualifications

• Strong DSP and digital-communications fundamentals.
• Experience independently investigating an unfamiliar signal or system using measurements and controlled experiments.
• Hands-on experience implementing DSP algorithms.
• US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the most difficult unfamiliar RF targets with no prior framing and design the experiment plan.
• Analyze wideband complex-IQ recordings from known and unfamiliar RF systems.
• Characterize signal bandwidth, timing, modulation, synchronization and framing.
• Develop algorithms for burst detection, synchronization, demodulation, and classification.
• Design reusable signal-processing components used across the team.
• Lead field validation campaigns and document observations and confidence levels.
