Salary Target: $160,000 – $200,000 base + 10% performance bonus

Our client is an aerospace and defense technology organization developing advanced RF, sensing, signal-processing, and counter-unmanned systems. The engineering team works on complex wireless signal-analysis problems involving detection, classification, communications, and real-world RF data in highly technical mission-focused environments.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior RF/DSP Engineer to develop and implement advanced RF signal-processing capabilities for counter-unmanned and related sensing applications. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role focused on analyzing unfamiliar RF signals, developing DSP algorithms, working with complex‑IQ data, and translating analysis into production‑quality C++ solutions. The engineer will work closely with RF, FPGA, embedded software, test, and product teams, with technical guidance available from more senior signal‑processing engineers.

Required Skills

Strong professional experience in RF engineering, digital signal processing, communications, radar, electronic warfare, or related signal-processing systems.

Strong DSP and digital communications fundamentals, including filtering, FFT/time-frequency analysis, synchronization, modulation/demodulation, detection, and estimation.

Experience analyzing real complex‑IQ data, not only simulations or high‑level models.

Hands‑on experience developing, testing, and debugging DSP algorithms.

Proficiency writing production‑quality C++ in a Linux environment.

Experience investigating unfamiliar RF signals or wireless systems using measurements and controlled experiments.

Experience with automated testing, replaying recorded data, and validating signal‑processing algorithms.

Ability to collaborate effectively with RF, FPGA, embedded software, test, and product engineering teams.

Familiarity with Git or similar source control and code review workflows.

Ability to work 100% onsite in Leesburg, VA, Monday through Friday.

Bonus / Soft Skills

Experience with counter‑UAS, electronic warfare, SIGINT, radar, SDR, telemetry, or protocol‑analysis systems.

Exposure to reverse‑engineering undocumented or partially documented wireless waveforms or protocols.

Experience with Software Defined Radios and RF laboratory equipment.

Experience with frequency‑hopping, spread‑spectrum, OFDM, cellular, telemetry, or command‑and‑control systems.

Experience with FPGA‑based DSP, fixed‑point implementation, or hardware/software partitioning.

Experience optimizing real‑time C++ DSP pipelines.

Familiarity with direction finding, antenna arrays, phased‑array processing, or emitter geolocation.

Familiarity with statistical classification or machine learning applied to RF data.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work through incomplete or imperfect real‑world data.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidate will combine solid RF and DSP experience with hands‑on C++ development and real‑world signal‑analysis skills. They should be comfortable working directly with complex‑IQ data, building and validating algorithms, and supporting lab and field testing. Candidates may come from communications, SDR, radar, FPGA, telemetry, electronic warfare, or similar technical environments.

This role is very similar to the Principal RF/DSP position but is targeted toward someone with slightly less overall technical seniority. Strong candidates may be evaluated at either the Senior or Principal level depending on experience.
