Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a distinguished leader in wireless communication technologies, is actively seeking a highly experienced Senior RF Design Engineer to join their innovative team. This role is critical for the design and optimization of advanced radio frequency systems that power our cutting-edge telecommunications solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep theoretical understanding coupled with practical experience in RF circuit design, antenna systems, and propagation modeling. This is an on-site position, requiring dedicated presence at our state-of-the-art facilities in Welkom, Free State, ZA. You will be part of a collaborative environment focused on pushing the boundaries of wireless performance and reliability, contributing directly to the development of next-generation mobile networks and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test RF circuits and systems for mobile communication devices and infrastructure, including amplifiers, mixers, filters, and oscillators.
• Perform simulations and modeling of RF performance, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and radio frequency interference (RFI).
• Optimize antenna performance and placement for various wireless applications, ensuring maximum signal strength and coverage.
• Conduct detailed RF site surveys and drive testing to analyze network coverage, capacity, and quality.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to integrate RF components seamlessly into larger systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex RF-related issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in RF technology, including 5G, IoT, and other wireless standards.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, test procedures, and performance reports.
• Mentor junior engineers and share expertise in RF design principles and best practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in RF and Microwave Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in RF design, simulation, and testing within the telecommunications industry.
• Proficiency with RF simulation tools such as ADS, CST, HFSS, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of antenna theory, design, and measurement techniques.
• Strong understanding of wireless communication standards (e.g., LTE, 5G NR) and propagation characteristics.
• Experience with RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and network analyzers.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, on-site environment.
• Experience with site acquisition and RF deployment processes is a plus.
