Job summary

RTX, one of the world’s leading aerospace and defense companies, seeks an electrical engineer with strong RF design skills and phased array experience. You will design RF/microwave components and test MMICs, integrating subsystem and system-level phased array hardware for mission-critical programs.

The role requires active DoD Secret clearance eligibility, a STEM degree with 5+ years of relevant experience (or an advanced degree with 3+ years), and proficiency with HFSS, ADS, CST, Genesys,

Qualifications

  • Degree in STEM with minimum 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with minimum 3 years experience.
  • Experience in microwave/RF system, subsystem and component analysis, design and test.
  • Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, CST, Genesys, Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Cadence Virtuoso) and analytical tools (Matlab).
  • Basic RF calculations and cascaded analysis.

Job description

Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship required. Need active DoD Secret clearance or be eligible for interim clearance before start.

Location: Massachusetts (Tewksbury or Andover); location assignment based on business need.

We are looking for an electrical engineer with a strong background in RF design theory and testing, including microwave components and Active Electronically Steered Antennas (AESAs). The candidate must be proficient in circuit card assemblies, electromagnetic/microwave theory, and the design of phased array systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design RF/microwave components and phased array applications
  • Develop insights that extend RF/Microwave knowledge and form the basis of new concepts and products

Required Qualifications
  • Degree in STEM with minimum 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with minimum 3 years experience
  • Experience in microwave/RF system, subsystem and component analysis, design and test
  • Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST, Genesys, Mentor Graphics Xpedition Cadence Virtuoso, and analytical tools such as Matlab
  • Basic RF calculations and cascaded analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing and testing analog CCAs, including frequency conversion, automatic gain control, amplifier design and analog filter design
  • Knowledge of electrical interconnects and transmission line design
  • Understanding of RF layout techniques from HF to X-Band
  • EMI analysis and mitigation techniques
  • Self‑learning and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Experience allocating and flowing down requirements from system to component level
  • Design of RF/microwave MMIC circuits, modules or test fixtures
  • Experience with GaAs and/or GaN MMIC devices
  • Experience with integrated circuit layout and physical verification using Cadence Virtuoso tools
  • Familiarity with semiconductor processing (GaAs, GaN, SOI)
  • Strong academic background in Microwave Engineering, Microwave Systems, Electromagnetic Theory and Radar Systems
  • Hands‑on experience with microwave testing techniques (spectrum analyzers, RSAs, VNAs, PNAs)
  • Technical writing, proposal writing and oral presentations
  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering is a plus

Salary range: USD 86,800 – 165,200.
