LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing energy company to identify a Senior Revenue Accountant to support the Accounting team in Oklahoma City. The role focuses on accurate accounting, analysis, and reporting of oil, natural gas, NGL, and other hydrocarbons revenues.

The ideal candidate will have strong oil & gas revenue accounting experience, advanced analytical skills, and knowledge of ownership interests, severance taxes, and ONRR reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive oil & gas revenue accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of revenue distribution, division orders, ownership interests, severance taxes, and regulatory reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables and lookups.

Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile oil, natural gas, NGL, and related revenue transactions.
• Review purchaser statements and revenue distribution reports for accuracy.
• Prepare monthly revenue accruals and variance analyses.
• Investigate production and revenue discrepancies with related teams.
• Analyze and reconcile revenue suspense balances and resolve items.
• Prepare severance tax calculations and regulatory filings.
• Support SOX controls, internal audits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting.

This role is responsible for the accurate accounting, analysis, and reporting of oil, natural gas, NGL, and other hydrocarbon revenues. The ideal candidate will bring strong oil & gas revenue accounting experience, advanced analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of ownership interests, royalty obligations, severance taxes, and regulatory reporting requirements.

This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with Operations, Land, Legal, Production Accounting, and Financial Reporting teams while contributing to process improvements and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile oil, natural gas, NGL, and related revenue transactions
• Review purchaser statements and revenue distribution reports for accuracy and completeness
• Prepare monthly revenue accruals and variance analyses
• Investigate production and revenue discrepancies with Production Accounting and Marketing teams
• Analyze and reconcile revenue suspense balances and resolve outstanding items
• Review ownership changes and ensure proper revenue distributions based on division orders and ownership records
• Prepare revenue-related account reconciliations
• Prepare severance tax calculations and regulatory filings
• Support governmental royalty reporting, including ONRR reporting as applicable
• Assist with SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit requests
• Support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements
• Analyze revenue trends, pricing, deductions, transportation costs, and production impacts
• Prepare revenue variance analyses for management reviewParticipate in system enhancements, upgrades, testing, and process improvements
• Leverage reporting tools and data analytics to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Serve as a key contact for royalty owners, working interest owners, auditors, and regulatory agencies
• Partner with Production Accounting, Division Orders, Land, Legal, Operations, and Financial Reporting teams
• Provide guidance and support to revenue accounting team members as needed
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive oil & gas revenue accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of revenue distribution, division orders, ownership interests, severance taxes, and state/federal regulatory reporting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, and large data set analysis

Preferred

• CPA or CPA candidate
• Experience with Midcon properties
• Experience with ONRR, BLM, or similar regulatory reporting
• Experience with Quorum or comparable oil & gas accounting systems
• Experience supporting SOX controls and public company reporting requirements
