Job summary

The Washington Post seeks a Senior Retirement Administration Specialist to safeguard retirement programs, including 401(k) and pension plans, with an internal-auditor mindset. You will drive controls, resolve complex issues, and align processes with governance across internal teams and third-party admins.

You will manage audits, analyze pension data, and partner with Payroll, HRIS, and vendors to ensure accurate, compliant, and transparent retirement operations for employees in a dynamic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field.
• 7 years' experience in retirement, insurance benefits, financial planning, or actuarial services required.
• Certifications such as CEBS or QKA are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. retirement plan regulations (ERISA, IRS, DOL).
• Ability to interpret complex plan documents and translate provisions for employees and vendors.
• Experience reconciling data across multiple systems and identifying root causes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and notices.
• Process monthly pension payments with third parties.
• Prepare for retirement committee meetings and conduct internal audits.
• Lead retirement plan audits with internal teams and vendors.
• Execute operational audits and coordinate corrective actions.
• Recommend enhancements to audit procedures and controls.
• Execute plan design changes with HRIS, payroll, vendors, and admins.
• Deliver customer service and resolve employee benefits issues.
• Educate employees about retirement programs and update intranet pages.
• Prepare utilization reports and analyze trends for plan design changes.
