Job summary

Stellantis Auburn, Alabama seeks a Restraint Design Release Engineer to lead the design, development and release of restraint components and systems for vehicle programs.

Responsibilities include collaborating with suppliers, writing change notices and compliance reports, and managing core documentation (DVPR, DFMEA) to meet program timing. You will support plants during pre‑production and production life while ensuring FMVSS and ECE compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of automotive engineering experience.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Good communication, problem solving, computer and presentation skills.
• FMVSS or ECE certifications or testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and release restraint components and systems for Stellantis vehicle programs, including steering wheel, seat belts and/or airbags.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross‑functional teams; write change notices and compliance reports; manage program documentation (DVPR, DFMEA).
• Monitor program timing, deliverables and issue resolution during development and serial life (warranty); support plants for pre‑production, production launch and serial life builds.
• Develop and manage passive safety restraint requirements and, for steering wheel responsibilities, capacitive hands‑on detection and heating (electrical and performance) requirements.
• Package and develop the complete restraint system with other Stellantis engineering organizations; interface with purchasing, product design office, manufacturing and supply base groups.
• Review testing, parts, data and best practices to meet FMVSS, ECE and other global certifications.
