Job summary

Northside Hospital Inc. is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide a broad range of respiratory therapies under physician orders. Responsibilities include assessing patients, implementing therapies, operating ventilators, and ensuring equipment readiness in a hospital setting.

Requires an accredited program graduate, Georgia-registered RRT, BCLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and safety-conscious conduct. Work hours include evenings with rotating weekends, no on-call requirement noted.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program and licensed as an RRT.
• Current BCLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required.
• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years RRT experience preferred.
• NRP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in clinical practice and adapts care to changing patient conditions.
• Provides safe, competent patient care per respiratory care guidelines.
• Assesses respiratory status and recommends/implements therapies with clinical data.
• Interviews patients and families for care information.
• Maintains functional departmental equipment levels.
• Adheres to safety policies and reports equipment or safety issues.
• Performs arterial punctures and interprets blood gas results.
• Obtains arterial samples from indwelling lines and performs pulse oximetry.
• Delivers oxygen, aerosols, positive pressure therapies, and chest physiotherapy.
• Provides tracheostomy care and suctioning; changes tubes as needed.
• Initiates and maintains CPR when required.
• Sets up, operates, and maintains ventilators and transports ventilated patients.
• Performs non-invasive monitoring and analyzes data.
• Maintains patient airways and bronchopulmonary hygiene.
