Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner to assume primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities under physician supervision. Special duties include neonatal and pediatric care in the ICU and during transport, plus diagnostic testing and patient education.

Qualifications

• Must have at least three years of recent respiratory care experience.
• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program.
• CA RCP license is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Strong data interpretation and documentation skills.
• Able to work under physician supervision in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets physician orders and documents them.
• Assesses cardiopulmonary status and conducts patient interviews.
• Determines therapy type, duration, and required equipment.
• Operates and troubleshoots respiratory care equipment.
• Performs diagnostic tests such as ABG, spirometry, and sleep studies.
• Maintains patient safety and infection control during procedures.
• Educates patients and supports discharge planning.
