Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, energy management, or energy systems, or a related engineering field.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in electric resource planning, management, engineering, or operations, with four (4) years in modeling.
  • Modeling hands-on experience developing, maintaining, validating, and executing PLEXOS models or comparable production cost, capacity expansion, or portfolio optimization models.
  • Understanding of generation operations and unit characteristics; ability to interpret and present model results for utility planning decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced resource planning analyses supporting IRPs, ISPs, Ten Year Site Plans and long-term resource adequacy assessments.
  • Develops and maintains planning inputs such as financial parameters, fuel price forecasts, regulatory outlooks, O&M and CapEx requirements.
  • Develops, maintains, and runs production cost, capacity expansion, and portfolio optimization models (e.g. PLEXOS) and manages databases and results interpretation.
  • Evaluates resource alternatives including conventional, nuclear, renewable energy, energy storage, and emerging technologies; assesses reliability, cost, risk, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepares executive-level reports, issue papers, and presentation materials for leadership, Board, and stakeholders.
