Job summary

Banesco USA Inc. is seeking a Residential Underwriter in Miami, FL to evaluate consumer mortgage loan applications and structure complex residential portfolio loans in a manual underwriting environment.

You will review borrower documents, appraisals, and tax returns, collaborating with Sales and Credit Leadership to ensure compliant, timely decisions. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of direct experience in residential mortgage underwriting.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field is a plus.
• Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Strong working knowledge of wholesale lending platforms and residential credit guidelines.
• Proficient in Encompass LOS and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Review and manually analyze residential credit packages to evaluate repayment ability.
• Review property appraisals and advise on collateral risk and complex scenarios.
• Manually underwrite and approve residential portfolio loans without AUS.
• Use Encompass LOS to navigate loan files and apply underwriting guidelines.
• Collaborate with Sales, Loan Officers, Processors, and Credit Leadership.
• Document underwriting conditions and approvals within regulatory timelines.
• Ensure compliance with ATR/QM, TRID, HMDA, ECOA, and Florida Homestead.
• Provide guidance to sales on credit guidelines to maintain pipeline momentum.
