Job summary

AllSearch Staffing Group is assisting an engineering and consulting firm in Fairfax, VA to hire a Senior Residential Mechanical Designer for HVAC. The role focuses on residential HVAC system design, load calculations, duct sizing, equipment sizing, ventilation, and code compliance.

Responsibilities include leading HVAC design using AutoCAD and WrightSoft, applying Manual J/D/S methodologies, and performing QA/QC reviews while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. in mechanical engineering and 3+ years in residential HVAC design.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, WrightSoft or similar software and with ACCA Manual J/D/S.
• Strong knowledge of IECC, ENERGY STAR, and state residential energy codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead residential HVAC load calculations, duct sizing and design per ACCA standards.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of HVAC calculations and energy modeling deliverables.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, builders and architects on design requirements and schedules.
• Maintain project documentation and reporting using Excel and internal systems.
• Mentor junior team members on HVAC design procedures and code compliance.
