Job summary

Comgent is seeking a Senior Resident Network Engineer to support routing and WAN operations in a large-scale service-provider environment. You will work with customer engineers and other delivery specialists on network deployments, changes and implementation testing, while serving as a primary technical contact for operational problems.

The role requires 10+ years of experience, extensive MPLS/WAN knowledge, and Juniper experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in large-scale ISP environments.
• Strong knowledge of multicast, OSPF, BGP, RSVP, LDP, MPLS-TE, and VPN routing.
• Experience with WAN, MPLS traffic engineering, and routing policy.
• TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance preferred.
• Juniper or equivalent vendor certifications are a plus.

You will work with customer engineers and other delivery specialists on network deployments, changes and implementation testing, while serving as a primary technical contact for operational problems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the service-provider network, supporting customer projects that change or extend the deployed environment.
  
• Assist customer engineers with new network installations, deployment planning, implementation plans and solution testing.
  
• Investigate equipment, hardware, software and network faults, gather diagnostic evidence and engage vendor technical support for resolution.
  
• Open and track support cases, provide clear technical documentation and communicate incident progress and root-cause findings.
  
• Apply detailed routing, WAN and MPLS knowledge to troubleshoot services and support reliable network operation.
  

Requirements

• Relevant experience: 10+ years.
  
• Multicast, OSPF, BGP, RSVP, LDP, pseudowires, L2/L3VPN, MPLS-TE, routing policy, MACsec, IPsec, GRE; WAN/BGP and MPLS traffic engineering.
  
• Technology environment: CTP, MX, EX, SRX; Juniper experience preferred, not mandatory.
  
• Required clearance: TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
  
• Juniper or other vendor certifications
  

The role requires engineering design, operational and support experience in medium-to-large ISP environments. You should understand BGP topologies and WAN transport methods, with intermediate-to-expert knowledge of MPLS deployments and traffic engineering.
