Job summary

CNPC USA is seeking a Sr. Reservoir Engineer - EOR to support CO₂-EOR, chemical EOR, and CCUS projects.

This role combines laboratory and field study design, pilot and full-field development planning, performance monitoring, advanced reservoir simulation, and cross-functional coordination. The position reports to the GEI Team Lead and requires leading cross-functional teams, performing simulations with CMG/ECLIPSE/tNavigator, and communicating results through technical reports and presentations.

Qualifications

7+ years in reservoir engineering with EOR/CCUS experience.
Experience with conventional and unconventional reservoirs preferred.
Excellent technical writing and presentation skills; able to communicate complex concepts.

Responsibilities

Manage ongoing EOR projects and identify new opportunities.
Develop pilot and full-field implementation plans including CO2, chemical, or thermal methods.
Run advanced EOR simulations to predict reservoir behavior and optimize recovery.
Lead R&D of EOR chemicals and lab testing protocols.
Integrate geological, petrophysical and production data into models.
Provide technical oversight during project execution and monitor performance.
Interface with external consultants and research partners; present results to stakeholders.
Travel domestically and internationally up to 60 days per year.
