Job summary

CNPC USA seeks a Sr. Reservoir Engineer - EOR to support CO₂-EOR, chemical EOR, and CCUS initiatives. You will design lab and field studies, pilot and full-field plans, run advanced reservoir simulations, and coordinate across teams with external partners.

You will communicate outcomes via technical reports and presentations to the GEI Team Lead. The role requires 7+ years of reservoir engineering experience in upstream oil and gas, including EOR/CCUS, with the ability to travel up to 60 days

Qualifications

• 7+ years of reservoir engineering experience with substantial EOR/CCUS exposure.
• Experience with both conventional and unconventional reservoirs is preferred.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 60 days per year.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Manage ongoing EOR projects, identify and develop new opportunities, and stay abreast of global EOR trends.
• Develop comprehensive EOR pilot and full-field plans, including chemical flooding and gas/thermal methods.
• Conduct advanced EOR simulations to predict reservoir behavior and optimize recovery.
• Lead R&D of EOR chemicals, including surfactants, polymers, and additives for various reservoirs.
• Oversee core analyses and fluid-rock interaction studies to validate EOR designs.
• Integrate geological, petrophysical, and production data into EOR models with cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical oversight during project execution, monitoring performance and troubleshooting field challenges.
• Interface with external consultants and research organizations on laboratory and field studies.
• Represent CNPC USA at technical symposia and contribute to patent filings or publications.
• Other duties as assigned.
