Job summary

Brunel in Spring, TX is seeking a Reservoir Engineer at Advisor II or III level for an on-site, 1-year W2 contract. You will guide the Reservoir Leadership Team, develop plans, mentor engineers, and oversee reservoir simulation studies to support performance optimization.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in reservoir engineering, experience with ComboCurve, conventional assets and forecasting, and strong mentoring abilities.

Job description

Job Title: Reservoir Engineer / Advisor II or III

Location: Spring, TX - office-based

Schedule: M-F, 40 hrs w/approved OT

Duration: 1-year W2 contract (possibility of extension)

MAIN FUNCTIONS
  • Provide guidance and support to the Reservoir Leadership Team to help achieve targeted performance goals.
  • Advise the Reservoir Leadership Team in maintaining strong technical standards and engineering excellence.
  • Develop plans and programs as requested by the Reservoir Management Team.
  • Support and mentor reservoir engineers in developing and executing plans that satisfy reservoir engineering objectives.
  • Possess expertise in reservoir simulation and/or the ability to conduct and guide detailed simulation studies.
  • Perform and oversee simulation studies and other technical evaluations to assess depletion strategies and investigate reservoir-related challenges.
  • Conduct and guide all supporting studies required for reservoir simulation, including Pressure-Volume-Temperature (PVT), inflow/outflow analysis, relative permeability, Special Core Analysis Laboratory (SCAL), and related evaluations.
  • Assess depletion strategies in support of asset acquisition evaluations.
  • Lead and/or participate in Peer Reviews to ensure technical quality and consistency.
  • Provide reservoir engineering input to drilling, facilities, and other functional teams as needed to support project execution.
  • Mentor and support less experienced reservoir engineers in simulation studies and reservoir evaluations.
  • Prepare and communicate results in clear, comprehensive written reports and graphical formats.
  • Deliver timely and focused updates on plans, studies, and results to management, partners, and other stakeholders.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with Project Teams to develop project-specific strategies that address identified risks and technical challenges.
  • Support risk assessments and studies outlined in the Project Risk Management Plan and ensure findings are incorporated into field execution activities.
  • Assist with uncertainty analysis and value-of-information evaluations to support data acquisition programs.
  • May lead Reservoir Team meetings when required.
  • May perform additional studies and assignments directed by the Reservoir Leadership Team.
  • Maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations.
  • Provide support for regulatory compliance activities as required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in Reservoir Engineering roles within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of reservoir engineering principles and advanced technical capabilities.
  • Experience building, executing, and analyzing dynamic reservoir models to evaluate technical challenges and opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir simulation methodologies and the ability to efficiently deliver studies that address project objectives.
  • Ability to independently identify issues, develop solutions, and perform reservoir evaluations.
  • Willingness and ability to lead, mentor, and support less experienced engineers.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated problem solver with the flexibility to respond to changing conditions and unexpected challenges.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment that demands exceptional customer service, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Working knowledge of reservoir management processes, practices, and expectations.
  • Ability and desire to work within integrated project teams, build productive working relationships, and communicate effectively across disciplines.
  • Capable of influencing and communicating effectively with all organizational levels, from frontline personnel to senior management.
  • Willingness to travel and/or reside away from home for extended periods as required.
  • Proficient with computer systems and software applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, to effectively function within project teams.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 7+ years of experience in Reservoir Engineering roles.
  • Experience with ComboCurve software (Candidates should be comfortable using software for type curve generation, production forecasting, performance prediction and analysis, etc.)
  • Experience with conventional assets, forecasting experience and reservoir performance analysis.
  • Candidates should demonstrate mentoring capability, and ability to support and develop junior team members.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of experience in Reservoir Engineering roles is preferred
  • Unconventional assets experience (especially Permian Basin) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic fracturing and unconventional reservoir development is preferred.
  • Strong operational foundation, including backgrounds in drilling, completions, production, or operations engineering is preferred.
