About the Role
Our client, a leader in oil and gas exploration and production, is seeking a Senior Reservoir Characterization Specialist to join their team in East London. This role operates under a hybrid work model, offering flexibility between in-office collaboration and remote work. You will be instrumental in developing detailed geological and petrophysical models of subsurface reservoirs, essential for accurate reserve estimation and development planning. Your responsibilities will include integrating diverse datasets such as seismic, well logs, core analysis, and production data to create robust reservoir characterizations. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide critical insights that inform exploration, development, and production strategies. This is a significant opportunity to apply your expertise in a key geographical region and contribute to the company's success in understanding and exploiting valuable energy resources. We are looking for a technically adept professional with strong integrative skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to build comprehensive reservoir models.
- Perform detailed petrophysical analysis of well logs (e.g., formation evaluation, saturation calculations).
- Analyze and interpret core data, including sedimentology and pore-scale characterization.
- Develop static reservoir models, including structural frameworks, property distributions, and uncertainty assessments.
- Collaborate with reservoir simulation engineers to ensure models are suitable for dynamic simulation.
- Contribute to prospect and field development evaluations by providing detailed reservoir characterization.
- Assess reservoir quality, heterogeneity, and potential for hydrocarbon recovery.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and summaries of reservoir characterization studies.
- Mentor junior geoscientists and petrophysicists.
- Stay abreast of advancements in reservoir characterization techniques and technologies.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in reservoir characterization within the oil and gas industry.
- Proven expertise in well log analysis, core analysis integration, and petrophysical evaluation.
- Proficiency with reservoir modeling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix, RMS).
- Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data integration skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
- Experience with seismic interpretation and its integration into reservoir models is a plus.
