Job summary

University of California, San Francisco's Department of Clinical Pharmacy is seeking a Professional Researcher to join the Deitchman Lab at Assistant, Associate, and Full ranks. The role focuses on HIV cure therapeutics research, pharmacology studies, and biomarkers using ex vivo tissue assays and LC/MS/MS.

Responsibilities include grant writing, experimental design, data interpretation, and reporting results to internal and external audiences. Supervising junior lab members is also expected.

Qualifications

• A doctorate or its equivalent in biomedical engineering or a closely related field.
• Hands on experience in matrix biology
• 10 years of experience in human tissue experimental design, sample preparation, and data analysis
• 5 years of experience in HPLC and mass spectrometer instrument operation and maintenance
• Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, and faculty
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• A PhD degree
• Extensive experience with molecular biology lab techniques and tissue culture.
• Experience writing research proposals
• Computer programming skills in MATLAB
• A track record of developing and leveraging innovative human tissue-based systems.
• Experience managing a diverse portfolio of collaborative projects between laboratories.
• Experience and interest in community outreach and mentorship

Responsibilities

• Carry out research in the Drug Research Unit, including pharmacology studies for HIV cure therapeutics and biomarkers.
• Write grants and design appropriate research strategies.
• Design and carry out experiments (e.g., ex vivo tissue assays, quantitative LC/MS/MS) and interpret data.
• Report results to internal and external audiences and prepare scholarly papers for peer-review.
• Supervise junior lab members in their research.
