The Senior Research Scientist will lead a growing portfolio on problem gambling and related behavioral health issues, directing rigorous studies and building funder partnerships for impact.

The role requires a doctoral degree, strong writing, and a track record of securing external funding. Travel may be required; part-time (50%) schedule is offered and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in public health, psychology, epidemiology, social/behavioral sciences, or a related field.
• Deep content expertise in problem gambling or related areas.
• Proven success as Principal Investigator or Co-PI on research/evaluation projects.
• Strong externally funded work history and competitive proposals.
• Advanced quantitative methods and data management.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with policymakers and practitioners.
• Peer‑reviewed publications and presentations in behavioral health or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow EDC’s portfolio of research, evaluation, and prevention initiatives on problem gambling and behavioral health.
• Serve as Principal Investigator on multiple projects, guiding design through dissemination.
• Provide leadership in quantitative methods and data interpretation.
• Oversee data collection, management, and validation for rigor.
• Write competitive proposals and secure external funding.
• Develop high-visibility presentations and contribute to publications.
• Build strategic partnerships with government, organizations, and universities.
• Mentor project teams and ensure quality and compliance.
• Travel nationally or internationally as needed.
