Job summary

Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for the position of Research Scientist II (Infectious Disease Epidemiology/Health Services Research), a mid-career role equivalent to an academic associate professor, joining MAPRI. This full-time role is hybrid, based in Capitol Hill, Washington D.C.

The role involves designing and implementing major epidemiology and health services research projects in infectious diseases, securing extramural funding, and disseminating findings

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, or related field OR an MD/DO with an additional advanced research degree.
• Extensive experience in infectious disease research; emphasis on HIV or other viruses or—communicable diseases including STIs—preferred.
• Minimum of seven years of post-doctoral research experience in epidemiology or health services research; health system setting preferred.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals; demonstrated extramural grant funding as PI.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement major investigator-initiated health services and epidemiology research projects.
• Secure external funding through federal, foundation, or industry grants.
• Lead research studies and collaborations with MAPRI, MAPMG staff, and external partners.
• Mentor MAPMG staff, physician researchers, and research interns.
• Publish findings and present at national meetings; peer review for journals and grant panels.
