SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST, DMPK in Buffalo, NY

Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Senior Research Scientist, DMPK is an expert in DMPK, drug bioanalysis, and metabolism. Responsibilities include executing research projects, providing technical expertise for cost estimation, expanding capabilities, and improving efficiencies in DMPK studies. The role requires expertise in mass spectrometry, assay development, and the ability to develop novel assays and services. Effective communication, multitasking, and independent result delivery are essential. The scientist is encouraged to enhance their knowledge through scientific literature and to mentor less experienced DMPK scientists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide technical expertise to execute DMPK, bioanalysis, or metabolite synthesis research projects
  2. Focus on bench execution of DMPK assays with cross-training on additional assays
  3. Design and conduct in vitro experiments with liver microsomes or hepatocytes
  4. Develop new procedures through literature research and supplier/customer contact
  5. Advise and train other DMPK scientists on ADME assays
  6. Supervise and develop direct reports and team members as assigned
Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical Science, Chemistry, or related field with 1-3 years of industry research experience
  • Or Master's degree with at least 8 years of DMPK laboratory experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of DMPK areas: physicochemical properties, PK, enzyme and transporter kinetics, bioactivation mechanisms
  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS bioanalysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Salary: $80,500+ per year
