Job summary

Dell is seeking a Systems Engineer to power Research Infrastructure & Lab Platforms in McLean, VA. You will design, automate, and evolve high-density virtualization and containerized research pipelines on modern enterprise hardware.

You’ll bridge bare-metal systems, hypervisors, and container orchestration to provide researchers rapid, secure access to compute environments. Responsibilities include modeling hybrid Linux/Windows environments, managing Proxmox/VMware/KVM/Hyper-V, and building

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Systems Engineering/Operations/DevOps for enterprise or lab environments.
• Dual-OS proficiency: Linux and Windows.
• Experience with virtualization and container workloads (Docker/Podman/LXC).
• Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation.
• Directory services and networking fundamentals (AD/LDAP, DNS, DHCP).
• Ability to analyze ambiguous requests and drive root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support hybrid Linux and Windows compute environments across bare metal, hypervisors, and containers.
• Manage enterprise hypervisors and build lightweight lab environments.
• Develop scripting to automate configurations, patching, and deployment workflows.
• Maintain identity services, DNS/DHCP, and directory integrations.
• Implement security baselines, backups, DR pipelines, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate requirements into tailored lab compute environments.
