Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Multi-Functional Research Administrative Manager to oversee grant submissions, progress reports, and budget changes across the lifecycle of sponsored projects.

This 2-year role will directly manage the pre- and post-award administration team, coordinating with the finance team and principal investigators to ensure compliance and successful award administration.

Qualifications

• Experience in lifecycle management of extramurally funded federal awards.
• Experience balancing large budgets.
• Familiarity with Workday, UW-Madison grant submission procedures is highly desirable.
• Prior management experience.
• Experience with eRA Commons.
• Experience working with research faculty.

Responsibilities

• Provides training to faculty, staff, and/or administrators within the unit regarding policy, procedure, and/or execution of sponsored project administration.
• Executes research administration operational policies and procedures including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance on behalf of a unit.
• Executes activities related to financial compliance, audit, or reporting on behalf of a unit.
• Executes activities related to proposal submission, contract negotiation, and/or award setup on behalf of a unit.
• May supervise the day-to-day activities of research administration staff.
• Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders.
• May have authority to submit proposals, agreements, or invoices to a sponsor on behalf of the principal investigator or project director.
