Outokumpu in Londonderry, NH is seeking an experienced Senior Research Engineer to advance sulfur-based metallurgical processes at our new pilot plant in Southern New Hampshire.

You will design and run high-temperature trials, analyze complex data, and collaborate with the EvoMaterials Team to scale promising concepts to industrial production while emphasizing safety and environmental goals.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD from an accredited college in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong theoretical and operational background in elemental sulfur handling.
• Expertise in design, operation, and safety for high-temperature sulfur processing systems.
• Proficiency in data analysis and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate high temperature pyrometallurgical trials of sulfur-containing metallurgical processes at pilot scale.
• Analyze thermodynamic, kinetic, mass transport, chemical, and operational phenomena to inform scale-up.
• Evaluate sulfur handling pathways across mineral processing, metal smelting, and exhaust gas treatment at industrial scales.
• Calculate mass and energy balances to evaluate new metals production processes.
• Communicate results with EvoMaterials Team and stakeholders at Outokumpu.
