Job summary

The Allen Institute for AI’s OlmoEarth team in Seattle is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to partner with external teams to tailor foundation models for diverse Earth-observation applications.

You will contribute across the stack—from data preparation and fine-tuning to model pretraining and rslearn backend—deploying solutions with partners from conservation, food security and climate initiatives.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience deploying machine learning solutions.
• Fluency in PyTorch; debugging training loops and developing task-specific heads for encoders.
• Familiarity with geospatial toolsets or platforms such as Earth observation or remote sensing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with partners to deploy OlmoEarth models in challenging contexts.
• Explore novel use cases and standardize high-quality approaches for common use cases.
• Work with engineering and partnerships teams to improve model adaptation and deployment processes.
