Job summary

The University of Chicago seeks an experienced Research Engineer to bridge academic modeling and engineering planning for SAI and open-system CDR. You will work on stratospheric deployment aircraft, cost estimates, and techno-economic analyses while coordinating with OEMs, EPC firms, and researchers.

You will help advance laboratory experiments, manage subcontract relationships, and contribute to publications.

Responsibilities

• Establishes conceptual designs for deployment aircraft using OEM technology.
• Evaluates new-build deployment aircraft with novel engine tech.
• Conducts techno-economic analyses and cost estimates for SAI scenarios.
• Designs and evaluates aerosol dispersal technology.
• Manages EPC/subcontracts with engineering firms and suppliers.
• Supports writing white papers and peer-reviewed publications.
• Plans resources to deliver projects on time, to standard and to budget.
