Job summary

Magna is seeking a Senior Research Engineer/Advanced Engineering to work on Corporate R&D projects in the Advanced Body Domain. You will evaluate new developments across body, exteriors, seating, and mechatronics while coordinating with internal groups and external suppliers.

You will plan and execute PoT/PoC efforts, drive IDP gate reviews, and guide future R&D efforts with data-driven analyses of design, materials, and costs. Michigan-based, on-site role with cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
• Master’s degree preferred for advanced roles.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional R&D teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop new technologies and product ideas for CPV or cost optimization.
• Lead end-to-end PoT/PoC projects using IDP methodology.
• Plan cross-functional IDP gate reviews with required documentation.
• Collaborate with CAD Design Engineers to generate 2D/3D data.
• Analyze customer requirements and define KPIs for new products.
• Perform deep-dive analyses on materials, design, and cost drivers.
• Support program timing and budget goals with advanced development studies.
• Contribute to roadmap planning across body, exterior, seating, and mechatronics.
