Job summary

University of Texas at Austin, Office of Sponsored Projects, seeks a Senior Contract Officer to manage sponsored research agreements and related contracts. You will draft, review, and negotiate terms, ensure compliance with university policies and applicable laws, and provide expert guidance on complex contracts.

The role requires six years of contract management experience, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work across offices to mitigate risk while supporting research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree required.
• Six years of contract management, processing, and negotiation experience.
• Experience drafting terms including intellectual property provisions.
• Experience negotiating with federal, state, academic, industry partners.
• Extensive knowledge of federal, state, local and University guidelines.
• Strong analytic and critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service.
• Familiarity with university policies and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate sponsored research agreements and subaward agreements.
• Prepare written exceptions and coordinate negotiations with stakeholders.
• Manage portfolios in UT Research Management Suite and E-Share Repository.
• Provide contract guidance and contribute to policy development.
• Oversee daily operations of assigned agreement portfolio.
• Supervise staff involved in review and negotiation as needed.
• Handle special projects as assigned by leadership.
