Job summary

The University of Miami's ORA seeks an ORA Contracts and Grants Officer 3 to independently negotiate research contracts in line with sponsor requirements and UM policies. The role supports a broad portfolio across academic departments, drafting and negotiating terms and ensuring compliance.

You will collaborate with IRB, Risk Management, Tech Transfer, and General Counsel to manage contracts and subawards while maintaining high standards of ethics and timeliness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
• CRA credential preferred but not required.
• Minimum 4 years of contracting experience in sponsored/unfunded research and outbound subaward agreements.
• Knowledge of NIH, DOD, NSF, NASA, DOE, Uniform Guidance, Export Control Regulations, and FAR.
• Ability to work independently with strong judgment and communication.
• Ability to meet deadlines while upholding ethics and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, reviews, analyzes, and negotiates terms for research contracts per UM guidelines.
• Guides faculty and staff on sponsored research administration topics and policies.
• Drafts outbound subaward agreements and negotiates terms.
• Collaborates with IRB, Risk Management, Tech Transfer, Export Control, General Counsel, and other offices.
• Ensures adherence to policies, regulatory changes, and protects university assets.
• Keeps abreast of regulatory changes relevant to contracts portfolio.
