Job description

Enlaza Therapeutics is pioneering covalent biologics therapeutics designed to deliver safer, more effective treatments for patients. Its proprietary War-Lock platform uses advanced synthetic biology to enable site-specific covalent coupling upon drug binding, supporting a pipeline of first-in-class candidates.

Role Description

This position is for an in vitro/in vivo Associate Scientist reporting to the Senior Director of Pharmacology. We seek an enthusiastic, collaborative individual with strong scientific rigor and excellent communication skills to support our drug discovery programs. Initially, the position will have a strong focus on planning and executing cell-based screening assays to support lead selection, as well as in vitro and ex vivo studies to characterize mechanism of action and pharmacodynamic properties of drug candidates. The successful candidate should expect to routinely perform cell culture and conduct experiments using western blotting, flow cytometry, and plate-based assays.

As the role develops, supporting the in vivo pharmacology team will become an integral component, including assistance with animal tumor studies including dosing and injections, sample collection and processing, and downstream analysis. Prior hands-on in vivo experience is preferred but not required for a candidate who demonstrates a strong willingness to be trained and develop these skills. Strong data analysis, interpretation, presentation, and record-keeping skills will be essential. This is a full-time laboratory position located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, conduct, and analyze experiments using methods including, but not limited to western blotting, flow cytometry and cell-based assays
  • Participate in the execution of in vivo studies including murine tumor inoculations and measurements, intravenous dosing, blood sample collection and tissue collection and processing, as appropriate for level of experience and training
  • Collaborate closely with both the in vivo and in vitro team to connect findings across study readouts and support integrated interpretation of drug candidate performance
  • Clearly document, interpret, and present results to diverse audiences
  • Contribute to the organization and upkeep of the laboratory environment
Requirements
  • BS/MS in biomedical sciences or a related scientific field with 6+ years (BS) or 4+ years (MS) of relevant laboratory experience in drug development and/or cancer research
  • Extensive experience in tissue culture and aseptic techniques
  • Expertise in designing, implementing, and analyzing experiments using western blotting, flow cytometry and other cell-based assays
  • Experience in tissue processing, cell isolation and enrichment
  • Hands-on experience with in vivo oncology models, animal handling, dosing or injections, tumor measurements, and sample collection is preferred
  • Candidates without prior in vivo experience must demonstrate a strong willingness and ability to be trained in animal research techniques and to support the in vivo pharmacology team
  • Strong computer and data analysis skills, including use of GraphPad Prism, FlowJo or NovoExpress and MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify and solve scientific problems
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Effective and collaborative cross-functional team member in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
  • Able to extract relevant information from scientific literature and online databases
Compensation
