Pay Range:

$62,300.00 - $102,350.00

Position Summary:

  • Develop new immunoassay products and/or devise innovative assay products. Independently schedule, plan, perform and report experiments for the feasibility, optimization, transfer and validation of immunoassay kits.

  • Interact with scientists from various departments and commercial organizations to gain ideas for new and improved products.

  • Serve as a leader in assay development either by guiding developers using best practices in assay development and/or serving as a consultant to other development teams outside the department.

  • Train new employees as needed.

  • Evaluate critical raw materials. Optimize formulations and procedures to meet all assay specifications.

  • Understand biological attributes of assay targets by reading literature and defining design goals. Gain knowledge in the field to identify future targets.

  • Use logical approach and critical thinking skills in experimental design, data analysis and problem solving. Solve routine problems and complex issues independently. Collaborate with other departments to solve complex issues when necessary.

  • Communicate effectively in writing and in verbal communications, including formal presentations, white papers, posters, etc.

  • Communicate activities and share ideas with other developers within and outside departments as appropriate.

  • Troubleshoot existing products when necessary and give technical insight on redevelopment projects.

  • Perform general laboratory maintenance and cleaning, including laboratory equipment. Maintain laboratory supplies.

  • Follow company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follow guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Independently takes on additional responsibilities of a complex nature outside of day-to-day work

  • Critical thinking and independence is recognized by peers and leadership

  • Utilize knowledge and prior experience to troubleshoot and resolve issues for self or others

  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues arising in daily work

  • Responsible to do research to pull data from others to propose projects

    • Batch records from other departments or others work

    • Review and analyze current literature

  • Perform complex experiments or produce batches with minimal instruction or direction through critical decision points

  • May set up work or experiments for others

  • Recognized by peers and leaders as a problem solver and resource

  • Understand how their decisions impact the department and when to collaborate for input prior to implementing

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of relevant experience

• Or, Master’s degree in a related field and 2-5 years of relevant experience
