Job summary

The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA invites applicants for the Research Assistant III role in its biomedical lab. The position supports studies on early diagnosis of type 1 diabetes and immune mechanisms, using mouse models and human samples to translate findings to patients.

You will perform cellular, molecular, and biochemical techniques, including flow cytometry, tissue culture, and ELISA; design experiments; and help supervise interns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ laboratory research experience.
• Master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Perform a broad range of laboratory techniques spanning cellular, molecular, and biochemical methods.
• Conduct flow cytometry, tissue culture, T cell assays, and ELISA.
• Apply basic animal research techniques.
• Assist in designing experiments and operate sophisticated laboratory equipment.
• Plan and conduct small to mid-sized research projects, or a significant portion of a larger, more diverse project.
• Supervise or train interns, students, or staff as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.
