Morningstar's Research group provides independent analysis on securities, funds, and markets from our Chicago office. The Associate Manager Research Analyst will research and rate funds and investment vehicles, building broader expertise across asset classes and contributing to thought leadership.

The role emphasizes investing passion, strong analytical and writing skills, and the ability to communicate findings to investors, intermediaries, and institutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree and/or CFA designation preferred.
• Passion for investing and helping investors make better decisions.
• Excellent time management, analytical, writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a collaborative environment.
• Experience in equities, fixed income, multi-asset, or alternatives desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop clear opinions to support forward-looking ratings on funds and investment vehicles.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis using databases and on-site due diligence.
• Monitor fund industry developments and broader market trends.
• Develop expertise across asset classes and asset-management firms.
• Provide logistical and analytical support to team initiatives.
• Author analytical research reports, articles, and industry studies.
• Discuss ratings with external institutional clients and internal teams.
