Job summary

PEI Group is seeking a Reporter in New York to cover the US private real estate market for PERE's equity-focused platforms and magazine, reporting to the Deputy Editor, Equity. You will help maintain relationships in the US market and serve as a visible editorial voice for the equity desk across pei-privaterealestate.com, PERE magazine, and PEI Group events.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the editorial agenda for pei-privaterealestate.com and PERE magazine, coordinating with Editors to cover key news.
• Pitch, research and write off-diary analysis, features, and exclusive news for PERE and related publications.
• Break exclusive news on the US real estate market.
• Assist with sponsored coverage and maintain commentary on social channels.
• Write regular commentary for pei-privaterealestate.com, PERE magazine, and special issues.
• Participate in PERE events, on-stage or online, and industry events as needed.

About The Role

We at PEI Group are looking for a Reporter to join our welcoming, diverse, and growing team based here in New York. Successful candidate will provide coverage of the US private real estate market for PERE's equity-focused online and magazine editorial offerings, while reporting directly to Deputy Editor, Equity.

• To enhance and maintain PERE's relationships in the US real estate market.
• To be a key voice and visible editorial contact for PERE's equity desk, both via pei-privaterealestate.com and PERE magazine as well as PEI Group's conferences and on social media.

Your main responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Contribute to the editorial agenda for pei-privaterealestate.com and PERE magazine in collaboration with the Editor, Equity and Senior Editor, Real Estate. To have a constant handle on key news and events in the marketplace with a view to producing coverage for both formats.
• Determine, pitch, research and write off-diary analysis and insight features for PERE magazine and associated special magazines.
• To break exclusive news on events in the US real estate market.
• Where appropriate, to contribute to PERE's sponsored coverage program for pei-privaterealestate.com and PERE magazine and various special magazines.
• To write regular commentaries for pei-privaterealestate.com and PERE magazine and various special magazines as well as maintain commentary on social media channels.
• To participate in PERE events, both on-stage and digitally.
• To attend and, on occasion, participate in non-PERE associated industry events.
• To assist the Editor, Equity and Deputy Editor, Equity with miscellaneous tasks related to the production of pei-privaterealestate.com, PERE magazine and various special magazines.

About You

Requirements

Essential Experience

• Formal journalism education or training is a must.
• Prior experience covering real estate or financial news is also essential.

Essential Knowledge/Skills

• Should be able to demonstrate an aptitude for proprietary analyses writing and exclusive news reporting in digital and print.
• Written and spoken fluency in English is essential.
• A keen networker, with the ability to establish and cultivate relationships with industry contacts through in-person and virtual meetings, sector events and social media channels such as LinkedIn.
