Job summary

ERM seeks a Principal Consultant, Renewables Project Manager to lead permitting strategies for renewable energy projects across the Pacific Northwest. Based in Portland, OR or Seattle, WA, you will steer regulatory approvals, environmental reviews, and multidisciplinary project delivery.

You will mentor teams, drive client advisory work, and contribute to ERM’s growth in renewables while collaborating with global experts and advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, environmental studies, environmental management, wetland science, planning, geography, or a related natural resources science field.
• 6+ years of project management, licensing, and permitting experience across WA and OR.
• Experience with federal, state, and local permitting for renewable energy projects.
• Experience assisting clients in obtaining multi-media permits and approvals.
• Experience with GIS and map interpretation using NWI, USGS, and aerial photography.

Responsibilities

• Lead permitting projects for utility-scale renewable energy and energy infrastructure.
• Advise on federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and approval pathways.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams delivering environmental assessments and permitting documents.
• Develop client relationships and contribute to ERM’s growth in renewables.
• Support development of innovative, sustainable energy projects.
• Mentor team members and foster a collaborative consulting practice.
• Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development.
