Placements24 is seeking a Renewable Energy Policy Advisor for Upington, Northern Cape. You will analyze policies, develop evidence-based recommendations, and support policy reform to accelerate the energy transition in South Africa.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD and at least 7 years in energy policy with strong research and communication skills. You’ll engage diverse stakeholders and present findings to government, industry, and civil society.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD required in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 7 years in energy policy analysis, development or advocacy.
• Deep knowledge of South African energy policy and market structures.
• Proven ability to deliver rigorous policy analysis with actionable recommendations.
• Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and evaluate national and provincial policies and incentive programs related to renewable energy.
• Develop evidence-based policy recommendations to support solar, wind, and other renewables.
• Prepare policy briefs, reports, and presentations for government officials and industry.
• Advise senior management and partners on policy changes and market trends.
• Engage with stakeholders to build consensus and advocate for reform.
• Monitor legislative developments and identify opportunities and challenges.
• Conduct economic and market impact assessments of proposed policies.
• Facilitate workshops and consultations on renewable policy issues.
• Contribute to strategic planning and advocacy campaigns.
• Represent the organization in policy forums and working groups.
