Job summary

ALTEN Mexico is seeking a Plastics Engineer to contribute to the Iron Air Battery project as a plastic component and tooling cost-optimization specialist. You will review components, develop rotomolded or thermoformed concepts, and drive supplier DFM reviews across CAD drawings.

You should have 5+ years in plastics engineering, hands-on experience with injection molding, DFM, and materials selection, plus strong English (B2–C1). Remote work is supported for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in plastics product development, process engineering, tooling, or supplier engineering.
• Experience with injection molding and rotomolding or thermoforming preferred.
• Experience with polymer material selection, tooling, and supplier DFM.
• Knowledge of wall thickness, draft, ribs, undercuts, shrinkage, warpage, and tolerances.
• Strong English skills (B2–C1).

Responsibilities

• Review custom plastic components and identify lower-cost materials, geometry, tooling, and methods.
• Develop rotomolded or thermoformed scrubber-vessel concepts with integrated features.
• Drive supplier DFM reviews and apply feasible recommendations to CAD/drawings.
• Evaluate tooling simplification, part consolidation, assembly reduction, and quality risk.
• Support nonconformance analysis for injection-molded components.
