Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Fire Alarm Systems Design Engineer to create cost-effective fire alarm solutions for commercial buildings, in a remote role based in the United States. The position covers design, submittals, and coordination with sales to ensure accuracy of layouts and material orders.

The role requires 5+ years of fire alarm design experience, NICET certification, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. NICET III/ASHRE/EIT certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• : High school diploma or GED; candidates with 5+ years of fire system design experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of experience engineering fire alarm systems.
• NICET II- Fire Alarm Systems certification and ability to obtain NICET III within first year.
• 3+ years of proficiency in AutoCAD and design; proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Choose the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost-effective solution.
• Prepare submittals and schedules; handle the ordering of products and equipment.
• Participate in sales-to-operations turnover meetings to evaluate accuracy of the sales estimate and job layout.
• Design fire alarm systems for buildings, including floorplan drawings for system device locations, riser diagrams, device wiring details, panel mounting and wiring details, bills of materials, and sequences of operations to meet the intent of the project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Provide general electrical calculations, including battery calculations, voltage drop calculations, conduit fills, power supply sizing, etc. and prepare engineering re-estimates and follow up with appropriate sales and management to ensure understanding of and satisfaction with job scope.
• Follow up with sales and management to ensure job scope, specifications, and schematics will meet customer needs and provide start-up and checkout documentation to the Project Manager for use in commissioning and validation.
• Perform quality assurance; peer-review engineering documents and mentor, train, and direct the design activities of the engineering team.
