Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Fire Alarm Systems Design Engineer in Plano, TX, hybrid role with occasional site visits. You will design fire alarm systems for buildings, prepare submittals, and support project teams from concept through commissioning.

Required 4+ years in fire alarm design, AutoCAD proficiency, and NICET I with a plan to obtain NICET II within one year. Texas employment eligible and willingness to visit local office as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; candidates with 5+ years fire system design experience considered
• 4+ years of experience engineering fire alarm systems
• Ability to read electrical circuit diagrams and understand fire alarm components
• NICET I - Fire Alarm Systems certification, willingness to obtain NICET II within 1 year
• 4+ years of proficiency in AutoCAD and design; proficient in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Choose the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost-effective solution.
• Prepare submittals and schedules; handle ordering of products and equipment.
• Participate in sales-to-operations turnover meetings to evaluate accuracy of sales estimate and job layout.
• Design fire alarm systems for buildings, including floorplan drawings, riser diagrams, wiring details, BOMs, and sequences of operations.
• Provide general electrical calculations (battery, voltage drop, conduit fills, power sizing) and engineering re-estimates.
• Follow up with sales and management to ensure scope and specifications meet customer needs and provide startup documentation.
• Perform quality assurance; peer-review engineering documents and mentor the design team.
