Job summary

GAMA-1 is seeking a Scientific Programmer III to design and modernize cloud-based software supporting large-scale scientific data workflows in a remote work environment. You will migrate applications to AWS, develop Python applications, and implement CI/CD automation to improve reliability, scalability, and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a technical field.
• Eight or more years of experience developing scientific or data-intensive software.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and software automation.
• Experience working in AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and cloud-native development.
• Familiarity with HPC or distributed computing environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-based software supporting scientific data processing and archive workflows.
• Develop Python-based applications and automation tools.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines for automated software development, testing, and deployment.
• Support migration of scientific applications to AWS.
• Collaborate with scientists, software engineers, cloud architects, and sysadmins to implement scalable cloud solutions.
• Develop solutions for processing, storing, and managing large scientific datasets using modern cloud technologies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, workflow, and deployment issues for reliable performance.
• Research, evaluate, and implement new technologies to improve performance and maintainability.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Participate in Agile sprint planning and code reviews.
