Job summary

Select Source Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Scientific Software Engineer – AWS/Python to design, develop, and optimize cloud-based software supporting scientific data processing and large-scale data management.

You will work with scientists, software engineers, cloud architects, and system administrators to build scalable solutions using Python, AWS, CI/CD, and modern cloud technologies, contributing to application modernization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, software engineering, data science, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience developing scientific or data-intensive software.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Experience with AWS environments.
• Experience with cloud-native development and IaC.
• Familiarity with scientific data processing and large-scale data management.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software for scientific data processing.
• Develop Python-based applications, services, and automation tools.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment.
• Support migration of applications to AWS.
• Collaborate with scientists, software engineers, cloud architects, and sysadmins.
• Handle large-scale datasets using cloud technologies.
• Troubleshoot issues to ensure reliable performance.
• Evaluate and implement performance, security, and maintainability improvements.
• Create technical documentation and architecture manuals.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities.
• Apply DevOps best practices throughout the SDLC.
