Job summary

Wilson Elser is seeking an experienced Claims Management & Coverage Counsel to join our national team. This attorney will play a key role in providing sophisticated claims management, insurance coverage analysis, and strategic risk assessment across a broad range of specialty and professional liability lines.

In this role, you will independently manage complex claims and coverage matters from inception through resolution, partnering closely with clients, carriers, and outside counsel to develop

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Superior written and oral communication skills required.
• Strong legal research and negotiation skills required.
• Experience handling complex insurance claims and evaluating coverage issues.
• Experience drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and coverage denial letters is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a claims caseload from notification through resolution.
• Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages for complex professional and specialty liability.
• Draft reservation of rights letters and coverage denial letters.
• Proactively monitor claims and develop handling and resolution strategies.
• Coordinate and manage outside counsel to obtain optimal resolutions.
• Prepare reports for clients with exposure analysis and reserve recommendations.
• Resolve claims through negotiations and mediation.
• Work closely with attorneys and partners on legal projects.
• Interface with clients, carriers, and outside counsel regularly.
