Job summary

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, is seeking passionate Software Engineers to design, build, and support a high-quality video advertising platform. This virtual-based role supports our New York Engineering Hub and global scale, handling billions of daily requests and terabytes of data.

You will contribute across the full development lifecycle, mentor teammates, and help drive reliable, performant services using modern C++ and distributed architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above
• 3+ years relevant work experience
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ with multithreading, concurrency, asynchronous programming, and memory management
• Experience designing high-performance, low-latency backend services
• Experience with Linux performance profiling, benchmarking, debugging, and optimization
• Solid understanding of RPC frameworks, HTTP/gRPC protocols, and distributed service architectures
• Familiarity with ML inference frameworks (NVIDIA Triton, ONNX Runtime) is a plus
• Demonstrated problem solving and technical innovation
• Strong passion for learning/practicing new techniques

Responsibilities

• Designing new software applications, analyzing system requirements and customizing applications to maximize functionality and user experience
• Assisting in the software update and release process, ensuring seamless roll-outs of new features
• Collaborating with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to identify requirements and integrate tailored software solutions
• Providing mentorship to junior engineers, nurturing a culture of technical excellence and collaborative knowledge sharing
• Managing the documentation process for all development activities, ensuring clear and accessible information for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Tracking and evaluating software performance metrics, using data to inform decisions and enhance system reliability and user satisfaction
• Partnering with Quality Assurance to confirm that software complies with technical specifications, ensuring the delivery of reliable applications
• Leveraging market research and industry trends to drive project strategies and improve software products
• Participating in or leading peer programming sessions, design sprints, or prototyping sessions
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary
