Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer - Systems, Reliability and Test to advance test development and qualification of power tool products.

This hands-on role requires cross-functional collaboration with design, marketing and manufacturing to translate user needs into robust specifications. You will lead reliability studies, develop test methods, and mentor junior engineers while applying HALT and other reliability testing, data analytics, and Weibull-style analyses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, systems, robotics or other related engineering field.
  • 5 or more years of experience in product development, systems, reliability, test or similar function.
  • Experience including systems engineering fundamentals, requirements management and proven ability to lead a primary function within a project team
  • Background in test development, verification, data collection and analytics. Experience with HALT and other reliability test methods a plus
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and sound statistical application in areas such as Design of Experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEA, hypothesis testing, etc.
  • Experience with life data analysis, reliability distributions, and related software is a plus (e.g. Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge / Experience with the phases of residential and commercial construction as well as equipment usage is a plus
  • Ability to travel 5-10% of the time is required (travel includes Domestic and International)

Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert with respect to product testing, reliability, requirements management and warranty analysis for new product designs and engineering changes
  • Collaborate with design engineers and marketing to define the product specifications with respect to product life, durability, quality, and user needs
  • Participate in, and conduct, design reviews to showcase project status, risks, and system readiness for testing and verification activities
  • Develop and execute reliability, design, and validation assessments to support successful product introductions based on data driven evidence
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of product qualification test plans, including functional, reliability, and durability testing
  • Develop test procedures and prove out test methods based on new or established product designs to ensure power tools meet customer requirements
  • Analyze and present product usage and risk assessments utilizing statistical techniques such as Weibull analysis, reliability distributions and stress‑strength analysis
  • Ensure timely failurereportingandperform root cause analysis for issuesobserved inlife testing and/or fielduse
  • Occasionally join end user research events to identify "critical to quality" (CtQ) requirements on mechanical and electrical design features
  • Interact with global engineers, suppliers and manufacturing that participate in product commercialization
  • Track and support multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process
